Poll: Mixed results for Governor Snyder

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A new EPIC/MRA poll, exclusive to 24 Hour News 8, shows Michigan residents have mixed feelings about Governor Rick Snyder after his first year in office.

When asked by EPIC/MRA pollsters "Do you have a favorable or unfavorable opinion of Rick Snyder?", 46% of responders said favorable and 40% said unfavorable; 13% were undecided.

That is an improvement in the governor's favorable rating from November 2011 when he had a 39% favorable compared to 44% unfavorable.

The margin of error is plus/minus 4%.

That is the same margin for Governor Snyder's job approval.

But, when asked "Overall, how would you rate the job Rick Snyder has done as Michigan’s governor?", 41% in the survey have a positive view of his job performance and 54% have a negative view.

In November 2011, the split was 37% positive and 59% negative, but the Governor's negatives have been between 50-60% since last August.

The difference between the two numbers is the first question asks how people in Michigan feel about Governor Rick Snyder;  the second question deals with how he is doing at the job.

What can be taken away from these numbers is that the people in this poll have a slightly more favorable than negative opinion of the governor himself, but not the job that he is doing.
